Introduction

Over the next few weeks, we will be gathering primary and secondary research, creating a survey what has to have the minimum of 40 responses.
We will be doing primary research on the type of game we are creating so we know what to expect when designing it.
We will be doing secondary research online, in books and in gaming magazines to see peoples responses to games and what they like.
The game we are creating has to suit everybody's standards so we cannot make any big steps till we have everybody's responses on what we should do.

Primary Research

 In primary research we decided to create a questionnaire to ask people about the features we thought about using in our game. we collected all the responses and based our research off this. It will help us develop an idea of who our target audience is and what people expects in a game. knowing this we can use in our game to make it more popular and more suitable for the audience target.

Here is the examples of the questions and the results we got;

This is a power point we did to represent our research, the first few slides is explaining the primary research i received and then the power point proceeds to explain the secondary research my partner did. We had cue cards with the information on which we then presented to a recording camera.

Secondary Research

In Secondary Research, we decided to do about 8 pages of research about horror, adventure and puzzle games. We collected all the evidence we had found out about and put them into a word document. Finding out about all three of these genres of games has give us an indication of what parts of games to use in ours and what part we should do some slight alterations too. Knowing this information, we can create a decent game that will sell.

Here is the document which had all our pages of research on;

Conclusion

Our idea at the beginning was to create a game on adventure, horror and puzzle. Throughout the research we found out that adventure and horror are the most popular, and puzzle not as popular. To not be too original, we decided to combine the 3 together to be different.

The game will hopefully interest people with its odd combination. Horror and Adventure will be the main outline of the game, with puzzle mixed in to certain parts. We feel that all the research we did was very successful and it all turned out how we wanted it to. There will be some alterations to certain parts of the research so it isn't copyright, also people don't like certain parts so we want to put a twist to it to pull people in.
